Free oral health screenings for school children

The Gauteng Department of Education has indicated a desire to re-institute free oral health screenings for grade one learners in the province.

Acknowledging this in the most recent issue of the SA Dental Journal¸ SA Dental Association (SADA) ombudsman Dr Jeff Michelson explained that the department had approached SADA to look at ways of implementing this programme.

He added that the matter had been placed on the agenda of SADA’s Community Health Services Committee meeting scheduled for the end of July. In the interim, he noted any input and/or suggestions from members should be submitted to rswanepoel@sada.co.za
